PHOTO: Incredible Hi-Res Self Portrait Of NASA's CURIOSITY ROVER

NASA's Curiosity rover used the Mars Hand Lens Imager (MAHLI) to capture this set of 55 high-resolution images, which were stitched together to create this full-color self-portrait that was beamed back to earth. This is an incredibly detailed image that shows all the intricate parts of the Rover as well as the Martian terrain and landscape.

The Rover's 55 photos were taken in such a way that the extended arm with the camera mounted on it is not visible in the final composition.

With these self portraits NASA scientists are able to document the wear and condition of the vehicle as time goes on, as well as give us all something pretty cool to look at!
